K&K Chai is a Northern California specialty tea company creating premium loose-leaf teas, spiced chai, and Japanese matcha for tea drinkers and cafés across the country.
We combine carefully sourced ingredients, professional tea expertise, and thoughtful blending to create a noticeably better cup of tea—whether it is prepared at home or served in a busy café.
Where it all began
Our relationship with tea began at home. We wanted to make healthier daily choices for ourselves and our two daughters—the original K&K—and tea became an important part of that change. As our knowledge grew, we discovered how much origin, freshness, ingredients, formulation, and preparation affect what ends up in the cup. Truly good tea was harder to find than it should have been, and we believed people deserved better.
After eight years of developing our first masala chai, we founded K&K Chai in 2018 with one blend: our Original, or “OG,” Chai. That single chai grew into a collection of premium loose-leaf teas, botanical infusions, chai blends, and Japanese matcha.
In much of the world, chai simply means tea. Today, K&K Chai represents far more than spiced chai.
Award-Winning Teas
Our teas have earned 18 international Golden Leaf International Tea Awards, including awards three years in a row for our Japanese matcha. Every tea is carefully selected or developed by our tea blender, a Board-Certified Tea Sommelier through the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada. This expertise guides every decision—from sourcing and ingredient selection to flavor, balance, and performance in the cup.
Sourced With Intention
We work with trusted producers and sourcing partners in respected tea-growing regions, including Japan, India, Nepal, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and China.
Our 3X Golden Leaf Award K&K Matcha comes from Nishio in Aichi Prefecture, Japan—an area known for specialized tencha cultivation and matcha production. It is shade-grown, stone-ground, and shipped in regular small batches to help preserve its color, aroma, and flavor.
Across our collection, we select teas and botanicals for their quality and contribution to the finished cup.
Real ingredients, Thoughtful Blends
Our blends feature recognizable ingredients such as whole spices, fruit, herbs, and flowers. We avoid artificial shortcuts that overpower the tea or leave every blend tasting the same.
Better ingredients are only the beginning. We carefully formulate each tea for balance, depth, and a flavor that develops from the first sip to the last.
Some blends are familiar and comforting. Others offer an unexpected flavor or a new way to experience tea. Every one is created to be worth remembering.

K&K Chai is more than a wholesale supplier. We help independent cafés, coffee roasters, restaurants, and hospitality businesses build better tea programs.
Our support can include menu evaluation, product selection, drink development, staff education, preparation guidance, and ongoing supply planning. Today, K&K products are served at cafes across the country at café.
We also contribute to the wider tea and coffee community through industry education, trade shows, festivals, and partnerships with organizations including the San Francisco International Tea Festival, the Global Tea Institute at UC Davis, World of Coffee, the Northeast Tea Festival, and Coffee Festivals in SF, SD, LA, and Seattle.
